A Lifeline Through Partnership
In a powerful demonstration of collaboration and compassion, the Rotary Club of Hill-Top Calabar, in partnership with the Green-August Humanitarian Foundation, successfully delivered a solar-powered borehole project to the Nigeria Police Barracks in Akim and the neighbouring Otop-Abasi community in Cross River State.
This initiative directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) by providing reliable access to safe and affordable water for underserved populations.

Addressing a Critical Need
For years, residents of the Akim Police Barracks and surrounding communities faced severe water scarcity, relying on unsafe and inconsistent water sources. Following a detailed needs assessment, the Rotary Club identified the urgent necessity for a sustainable solution.
The result: a high-capacity solar-powered borehole system, complete with overhead storage tanks and a reticulation network, ensuring consistent water supply across both communities.
Remarkably, the project was completed within just three months—demonstrating efficiency, commitment, and a shared vision for impact.
